I can't believe I'm doing this

So I've had the urge to post about the BC Teacher Strike, but I don't feel like my other blog is the place to do it. So I made this blog. Wow, I'm a blog nerd. Anyway, here I can post away without turning my other blog all political.

Gotta love free access to internet publishing. Yeeehaw!

Comment away, I'd love to hear from you, whatever side of the fence you're on. My only rule... be nice! Swearing and personal attacks will be quickly deleted.

Subject: Mandates of BCTF and MLA Shirley Bond, Minister of Education

In Oct 14 edition of The Times Colonist, columnist Jack Knox comments on the claim by Shirley Bond that the BCTF's mandate isn't as strong as indicated. He then compares the mandates of the two and issues these figures:

In the last provincial election, 5,885 out of 25,060 eligible voters voted for Bond in her Prince George riding.
In the recent teachers' strike vote, 22,700 teachers out of a possible 38,000 voted to strike.

He then asks the question - Who has the greater mandate?

Hi Hillary, It looks like you are right, this government should be mandated to attend the bullying prevention courses.

I see they have announced that they are appointing a special prosecutor to look into "criminal contempt"

Disobeying a court order is an offence under S. 127 of the Criminal Code, but wait. The Criminal Code goes on to say that if there is another remedy in law then it is not a criminal offence.

The Order of the Supreme Court is a civil Order. The Supreme Court Rules Rule 56 to be exact proscribe specific penalties for Contempt of Court but there is no criminal record.

Now we have an Attorney General who has sat as a Justice on both the BC Supreme Court and the BC Court of Appeal. Are we to believe that he needs to hire a lawyer to determine if criminal chargeds can be laid. It took me a total of 15 to 20 minutes on the internet to determine that the Criminal Code S. 127 does not apply as stated above.

I don't see how these Liberals can preach about obeying the law when they are the ones manipulating it to suit their own purposes.

Oh wait now, it is only the laws that he likes which he wants us to obey.

Anyway, good luck.
